Okay, so I wouldnāt call this book atrocious, but letās be realāitās not good either. The storyline? A mess. I cannot fathom how someone could have their lifelong dream LITERALLY shattered by another person and still feel instant sexual attraction toward them. Likeā¦ be serious. And the MMC? Same thing. That first bar scene where they meet? Annoying as hell.
The plot itself feels like the author just threw in random "obstacles" and "bad people" just to force conflict, but none of it gets proper development, so everything feels super jumpy. And donāt get me wrong, the FMC and MMC are fine for dark romanceābut they totally give off that couple vibe where you just know theyāll get bored of each other in 2 or 10 years and call it quits.
Also the setting? Bad. The writing style? Worse. Itās all over the place, and donāt even get me started on the spicy scenes. The book is super kink-heavy, but because the writing is meh, itās just not hot. After the first few scenes, I just started skimming becauseā¦ why would I subject myself to reading a kink I don't have and not hot anyway. And why is there always an awkward space before a comma or period like these:

Honestly Iād rate it lower, but I have to admit I had some funāmainly when the FMC was clapping back at her enemies. Sheās at least not one of those painfully meek heroines. But yeah, I wonāt be continuing this series, and I definitely wonāt be picking up anything else from this author.

This was hot, unhinged in places and gives a good mystery subplot. The spicy was definitely spicing!
