Reads more like a novel than an in depth history accounting. A good overview of the key events over a 4 year period. Well written and an easy read.

I don't have time for propaganda. A right wing Tea Party Republican Thomas Jefferson is more than I can handle.

Loved it. The best book I've read in a while.

Make peace with the fact that this contains some Fox News garbage in the intro and epilogue, ok? Just skim that junk, it's worth getting through--'cause in between is a pretty interesting bit of US history with some fascinating historical figures you may "know, but don't know" (like Decatur and Preble). It's just an overview but not a waste of time if you read with a discerning eye, and just excuse the propaganda since it's so glaringly easy to see (and ignore).

It was an interesting read on a part of history I knew nothing about. But the entire book was building on to one battle that was a single chapter.

I got about half way through the book and said to myself this sounds like it was written by Fox News. I looked up the author and sure enough he is a news anchor for Fox. No lie, that’s just funny!

The story is engaging but it’s definitely written with an agenda. I’m an American patriot but I like my history to be honest warts and all. Writing this slanted doesn’t really help.

I will definitely have to read another book on the subject to make sure I have the full story.
