Amazing book. Very concise and effective. Interesting stories and examples. Some very practical advice and some very easy to follow steps to change the habits you don’t like and start the ones you do or want to have.

I do not understand why this book is so highly rated.

The book has a simple premise, change your life by starting habits and building on them.  Ok, this seems like a good idea and I think there is something to it, so I was expecting the book to expand on this and provide other tips or anything.  Instead, I got the same advice packaged over and over along with advertisements to check his website.  There are some anecdotes in the book that are used to reinforce the author's views, but there is not a lot of science behind it.  I wouldn't mind this so much, if there was more substance, but instead it continues to suggest you turn your goals into systems and then break those systems down in order to make a bunch of little habits and the best way to do this is to sign-up to the author's website and buy a journal and pen and maybe a subscription.

Skip the book and just watch the author's video on his website at https://jamesclear.com/atomic-habits .  You will get the same information (minus all the anecdotes) and skip all the repeat advertising.
