I imagine this book is very helpful for readers that have not had habit building techniques drilled into them since early teenage years.
The language Clear uses to describe the different modes of habit building are clear, if not a bit repetitive.
I found the sheer amount of graphs to be unnecessary, not to mention not actually reflective of any real numbers or statistics, rather a visual representation of concepts that he repeated frequently.
There were lots of sports analogies throughout the book, which makes sense given that Clear was an athlete during his formative years, however they did grow repetitive as the book went on.

This book was pretty decent focusing on how to "hack" your habits to fit into good effective systems. I like the ideas on paper, but it's going to be some work to do them effectively as a manager. I felt like most of the book is on the cusp of something interesting but never quite actually landing it. Like there's a lot of focus on not making goals but instead building habits. And functionally I agree with that. It's not just about completing X task and you're done, it's about growing as a person (habits). But sometimes you just need a goal or milestone to hit and even the book acknowledges this, but then still tries to define them as something different like:
Goal: Refine resume.
Habit: Daily: Spend 30 minutes improving your resume or LinkedIn profile.
They're functionally the same result, just time boxing and defining in more detail. Or just taking a big topic and breaking it down. It seems like a lot of words and repeated words to summarize that point.
I would also agree with a lot of reviews on here stating there is a lot of potentially triggering examples regarding weight and body images that are likely not the best examples that could have been created to illustrate this point. It was interesting to read about why you might have cravings but the end result the author concludes is (TW) that essentially fat people are weak and they should want and need to fix that "bad" habit disregarding any number of other reasons why this might be happening.

I did find there was some helpful stuff in here, it was a lot of hard work reading through the anecdotes.
I skipped over most of it to get to the actual advice. Made it a real chore.
