Love the beginning of the series, but it begins to contradict its own rules as it goes further along. Love to see Mercy and Adam in love - they’re usually too busy and kept apart by plot. Nice to see more of Mercy’s background explained.

After five books about the werewolves, the vampires, and the fae, we get a book focused on the main character, where her magic comes from, and meet others like her. There is a scene towards the beginning that was pretty delightful, but the possessiveness in Adam & Mercy’s relationship is off-putting to me, even though “because werewolves!”

Very good. There were some parts that were a little slow, but the storyline was good. I highly recommend this series for fans of urban fantasy.

3.5 stars. Got good when Coyote came into the story but otherwise it wasn't very fun to read. Felt like filler.

I am just on a roll with the Mercy Thompson/Mercy-verse right now. I liked this installment quite a bit - I liked that Mercy learnt a bit more about her Father and part of his culture.
It was interesting to not have all the wolves or fae available to jump in and help out.

Like the last book in the series, this one is yet again not my favorite.. But it was still good. There were a lot of new characters that never really got developed, and that sort of took away from the story as a whole for me. I love learning more about Mercy's heritage, and I liked the change of setting/scenery.. But I don't know. The under-developed new characters and the sort of flat bad guys definitely didn't help the story along. Overall I'd give it 3.5 stars.. Not my favorite, but still well worth the read. And now it's time to wait... I can't wait till the next in the series is released :)
