Not my usual thing, but very well done! There was a bit at the end I found interesting that I wouldn’t have minded there being more of, but I think it was well done how it was :)
Update: After some time has passed I’ve found the story has had a greater impact on me than I originally thought it did. I take it back, I’m glad the ending was done exactly how it was and have raised the rating from 4 to 4.5. There are still parts I found dry and boring to get through, but now I see why it was like that, and I have a respect for what this story accomplishes.

A really excellent telling of a true story. Exposes a lot about the human spirit and how it prevails in difficult circumstances. The events that followed its original publishing in the Colombian news are disheartening, but unsurprising. It was also interesting to read work from the beginning of GGM’s career and his journalism after having read his widely celebrated fiction. Definitely worth reading.
