Make sure you check the trigger warnings! This book is dark, but so well written. The repetition and language used absolutely pulled me in. The storytelling was masterful, but at times it was so hard to listen to. The story was well told and the characters were beautifully flawed.

Hard to read due to some content but it kept me hooked until the end. There were some parts where it was hard to follow but I figured it out in the end

The more I think about this book, the more irritated I become.  The motivations of the characters are just absurd.  I realize everyone processes trauma in their own way, but none of the people in this book behaved in a believable manner.

I’ve read almost all of Karin Slaughter’s books, and this is by far one of the worst ones.

captivating, heartbreaking, disgusting, very graphic, a little predictable at times (

) but with lots of shocking & surprising moments; I feel like it could’ve been shortened, esp repeating the same horrible scene like that seemed unnecessary, even though part of it was different each time.
definitely check the content warnings before reading

This book is SO far outside of my usual reading material (not a Romance? Am I okay???). The mood reader in me had me picking this one up because I kept hearing that it was "like Law & Order:SVU", which I do agree- the vibe is the similar; but it definitely took me by surprise just how gorey and in depth it went into certain parts (I'll have an optional TW list below). It was overall a really great read though- It kept me on the edge of my seat and dying to read more! Even though I totally saw that ending coming.. I'm really glad I branched out a bit further in my reading, and can definitely see myself reading more Thrillers in the future! ♡

If You Liked That, Read This:
• Criminal Minds
• Law & Order: SVU|Organized Crime
• Where the Crawdads Sing
• I Am the Night

Tropes/Vibes:
• What the Fuck Am I Reading⁉️
• What Just Happened❓
• Sisterly Love Tho 💗

Great story! Typical Karin-super violent and descriptive so go in with caution. However with how intense the book started it really got longish in the middle. It kept my attention the whole time but I think the pacing could have been better.
