I liked this book - it was a solid rom com with relatable characters. The two romantic leads were really fleshed out and Sadie was very relatable. A warning though: she has very intrusive self-deprecating thoughts. I found them important and honestly very relatable, but it could be triggering.
The story itself isn't mind blowing but it doesn't need to be. It's cute and quick and a good beach reach.
I wish the side friends had had a tiny bit more depth to them but it's okay. There is also a part of me that wishes she had run into her old boss when she was successful in her new venture but that is totally not necessary and would most likely have felt very contrived so I am absolutely not holding it against the book.
Glad I bought this one on a whim.

A significant portion of this book is just drinking alcohol/getting drunk or the main character berating herself. The romance here isn’t between the characters - it’s between a burnt out millennial woman and the hope of financial stability.

I received an eARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Check this book out on February 1st, it is definitely worth the read!

Sadie has devoted her life to her cushy job at the accounting firm— working long hours in the hope she will get the promotion that will allow her to live more comfortably. When Sadie is passed up for the promotion she deserves—she loses it, thus losing her job. Sadie goes into a tailspin and drunkenly mistakes an app to find roommates as a dating app. The next day she finds herself at Jack Thomas' gorgeous brownstone with rent that is dirt cheap. Sadie signs the lease and moves in two weeks later, ready to start the floral business she always dreamed of.

Jack, who is still grieving from his parent's passing years before, begins to open up to Sadie. As they get to know each other, their feelings for each other begin to bloom. But, Sadie does not want to ruin a good thing— like she always does.

This had everything I wanted in a slow-burn romance. Sadie and Jack truly grew as friends and the tension between the two of them was immaculate. Sadie is sarcastic and pushy, but also so kind—even if she does not believe it herself. Jack is nerdy and sweet, but also hides himself from those around him. Watching these two learn to love themselves, and each other, was great to see.

“‘Today’s been perfect, but not gonna lie I’m excited to get home’ [...]’ I’ve been home all day’ […] ‘My home is you.’” 🥺♥️

Sadie has just lost her soul sucking job and has no desire to find another one. She goes out with her friends to get her mind off of it, ends up tipsy, and decides to on a whim pop on her dating app. She finds a match and then makes a coffee date.  ☕️ When she shows up at the coffee shop, she sees Jack, her date. Jack starts interviewing her and come to find out this wasn’t a date at all….she by accident swiped right on a roommate match! 😬💖

This is a roommates to lovers romance that was heartwarming with a little spice thrown in along the way. I loved the chemistry between the two. Their friends group texts were the best! At times their “ mental struggles” were a little over the top, but at the same time they had great character depth. Overall this was a beautiful love story and absolutely loved it! 🥰🥰🥰
