4.5 stars!

We're back in Sugarloaf, and once again Corinne made me cry! She's so good at that!

Declan Arrowood and Sydney Hastings are first loves. He left her suddenly one night eight years ago, and if you've read Come Back for Me you know why. As much as she's tried, Sydney has never stopped loving Declan. Their story is a constant push and pull of love and hate and feelings, and surprises, I really enjoyed this one!

"I'm not breakable, and I don't need you to protect me, I need you to choose me."

Fight for Me is supremely angsty, and one hell of a slow burn (in my humble opinion), and I ate it up! Steam when it needed to be with a beautiful story and supreme character development, Corinne once again gave me a story that I'll love for a long time with a great segue into Devney and Sean's story!

Well, I like this book more than I expected. I have my reservation when I read some reviews saying the heroine does not have backbone and doormat. While the hero is unapologetic character. I braced myself.

While I listen to it, somehow I grow symphatic toward Sydney. Yes she is doormat. But something tugged on my heart. If I have the love of my life left and suddenly came back, of course I have some resentment toward him. And Miss Michaels pens it down in a little bit immature way.

What is missing is the angst from Declan's past. If only there is more drama then this book will be great.

Overall I do enjoy this book very much.

First Impressions
Fight for Me is the second book in this series and I just was in the mood to get back to this world and most especially this family that I fell in love with in the first book. I went into this one with zero expectations and I will admit while I enjoyed it, there were aspects to this story that detracted my overall enjoyment, unfortunately. I was quickly drawn into the story, Corinne Michales has a unique writing style that is guaranteed to pull you so quickly into a story. I really liked the elements that are brought together, especially the small-town aesthetic and the family dynamics that will charm the reader. When you pick up this author, you know what you are getting with it. There was a mix of some fun matchmaking, charming witty dialogue and a unique plot that will pull the reader into the story even more.

Summary
Declan and Sydney have loved each other for years and were high school sweethearts, but when something happened to Declan and his brothers, Declan had to make a difficult choice to let the woman that he loved go and break things off and hurt her more than anyone else ever has. Now with his father dead, he had to return home to spend his necessary six months and is now back in the sphere with Sydney and their connection has never been lost and they reconnect physically from the first few days of him returning but there is still plenty of hurt and resentment and Declan is refusing to fight for Sydney. But months have passed, and Sydney learns that she is pregnant, with a man who doesn’t want to be saddled with a wife or a child, and she knows that she needs to tell him the truth, but is making plans to raise this child on her own if necessary. But when it matters….will Declan abandon the woman he loves or fight for her and their family?

I needed you to fight, Declan. I wanted and begged you to fight for me. For us. For the love we share and the life that we could have, but you won’t, and I can’t make you. I love you, but it’s time for me to accept that we won’t be

What I Loved
I will be honest there were many part of this story that I actually really enjoyed. I really love this family and the connection that the brothers have to each other. I especially adored Declan’s relationship with his niece, they were beyond adorbs together. We also get some fun family connections on the side of Sydney with her sister, I also really loved the style of this second chance romance that just ended up working out so well. I was drawn into this story very easily, Corinne Michaels, is an author, that you can trust to engage you very quickly in a story. There is a level of emotion that is carried throughout the story from beginning to end which is so heartfelt and tangible. I was so intuned with these characters and the way that their hearts guide them through their motions. I also was intrigued by seeing what would end up bringing Declan and Sydney back together and what would be the tipping point in making it so that Declan would fight for his girl., There is some fun drama angst that is brought into the story but I ended up being charmed by the writing style of the author, and it ended up being a quite entertaining read.

You say you can’t be what I want you to be, but all I’ve ever wanted is you-the good, the bad, and the broken parts of you.

What I Struggled With
Now there is one major aspect to the plot that drove me nuts and it’s the secret baby/accidental pregnancy element. I really don’t like secret baby and I felt like it was dragged on way too long for the heroine to tell Declan the truth. I felt he should have known when she first learned of it and now months later. I understood why she was trying to find a way to build a new life for herself but she didn’t tell anyone and I just couldn’t relate with this at all, and while I get it was probably just a plot device to use, it one of my most hated tropes and I find it to be a toxic trait in heroines. It was literally dragged out until the very end when there was no choice but for him to learn the truth. I expected more from Sydney to be honest as I really fell in love with her in the beginning

Overall View
Fight For Me is a sensational read that will quickly attract you into this romance that delivers in the intense emotion, slow sexy build and characters you become so endeared with. A SOLID WIN!

You knew my heart was always and forever going to be yous

Declan has been back to Sugarloaf since his youngest brother graduated high school almost ten years ago. He hasn't seen or spoke to Sydney since that night either, bur he's never stopped loving her, no matter how hard he's tried. But of course his father has to mess with him one more time, even from the grave. He's got to go home for six months and help take care of the family land. There's no way he can avoid Sydney in that small town for six months and being around her is like no time has passed at all. Maybe it's time to fight for her.

Corinne Michaels is a master are writing complex characters with some rather heartbreaking histories, but she does it in a way that doesn't just completely big you down with such hard emotions. Fight For Me was no exception. Declan and Sydney both have issues with their fathers and both have to come to terms with those feelings and pasts. I did feel like the story was a little repetitive at times with their internal dialogue, but I did still quite enjoy the story.

I love how strong Sydney ended up being and the fact that she didn't just let Declan off the hook completely. And I love that Declan really did fight for her in the end. I didn't love some of the decisions they made along the way, but I also understood them. It was a good story and I'm looking forward to continuing the series.

I would recommend this one to anyone who enjoys the following.

✔️ Second Chance
✔️ Unplanned/Secret Pregnancy
✔️ Small Town
✔️ First Person Dual POV

This book was so heartbreaking! Just as much as the first book! This was a really good second chance romance!

Along with everyone else in the book, Declan pissed me off!! I wanted to jump into the book and smack him! Thankfully he got over his past and saw what was standing right in front of him, his first and only love, Sydney!

Sydney is so amazing! This girl knows what she wants and fights for everything she loves and wants. That takes a lot for someone to never give up and that is what I love most about her! The love the 4 Arrowood brothers have for her is so much for my heart!

I love that Hadley kinda brought Sydney and Declan closer just like Connor and Ellie!

I actually felt the pull of these two, I felt the connection!

I am really excited to read about Sean! He’s the one I have been waiting for!!

Min andra favorit i serien och det hör nog ihop med att jag är svag för en andra chans för två som tidigare älskat varandra. Trovärdig anledning att de hölls isär och en sista halva som gjorde att hjärtat klappade extra fort.
