The problem, if you could call it that, with crossovers is that they so often contain characters that rely upon your prior knowledge to make the story being told fun or even interesting. Thankfully, Blood and Fire manages to sidestep all of that with a strong opening hand that made me instantly feel not-quite-comfortable in this madcap mystical universe, but certainly okay seeing where the winding tale would take me.

It's a confident opening volley that gets this story going fast, establishing this crazy world and the two very disparate leads, instantly creating a tone that's part adventure buddy cop story, part odd couple comedy of conflict. It doesn't hurt that the two authors bring complimentary sensibilities to the work, giving you a firm sense of character and tone just from the narration.

It also doesn't hurt that the story, an espionage-action-heist mashup set firmly in a paranormal wonderland, manages to move at a fast clip, crunchy pulp fun that matches the subject matter. If anything, by the time I was done I was more than ready to read more about these characters and the (undoubtedly) ridiculous, messy adventures they'd go on next. This story is a nearly perfect trifle of fiction, delicious and complete and fun, but smartly leaving you hungry for what's next.

EVIEW – BLOOD AND FIRE
COLLABORATION ON JUST MY BLOOD TYPE

WRITTEN BY: CARRIE CLEVENGER & NERINE DORMAN

Blood and Fire is a short story which is the second collaboration between the two authors. The story takes us on an awesome adventure into the life of Xan Marcelles a vampire who is part of a rock band called Crooked Fang. The band performs out of the Pale Rider a back country Tavern in Colorado.

In Just my Blood Type we got to know Xan as modern day womanizer clad in leather. In this novella however, Xan’s existence has caught the attention of an Egyptian cult of sorcerers which opens the door to a thrilling new adventure with new exciting characters.

Askton Kennedy forms the second lead character in the story. He is introduced as a bit of an underdog as he is a member of a race called Inkarna which exists through aeons by stealing bodies.

Fate creates the scene in which both characters meet whilst being pulled into traitorous waters. Together they need to battle against overwhelming odds and an implacable enemy.

Throughout the story the question remains: Can they overcome their differences long enough to survive?

Blood and Fire is only available via Amazon’s Kindle or Kindle apps at this time. It can however be read on Apple devises, Android via the app and even on your pc.
