The writing is gorgeous, there are so many passages that made me emotional, especially the ones about parents. I love that it’s an unreliable narrator and that the horror of it creeps up on you until it’s inescapable. Overall a fantastic read, looking forward to more of their work :)

I am fairly new to horror but I think the “don’t understand the biology but weird things are happening whether or not we find out what” subgenre is one I appreciate. 

I did feel this lacked some depth, the beauty-ugliness trope was glaringly prominent by endless repetition, and I feel the story would have been a lot shorter if the MC were a bit quicker to catch on. I was intrigued nonetheless.

A dark satire about the beauty industry featuring a talented unnamed MC and her love for music and her immigrant parents.

Truly enjoyed the prose and compelling characters which will stay on my mind for a long time.
