This book is amazing and beautiful. It's a little too real at times and can trigger a really uncomfortable sense of foreboding. But it also gives a sense of hope for the ability of people coming together in community to make a change, even a small one.

Everyone should read this book.

Shocked it has taken me this long to read Octavia’s work, in some ways this book definitely fuel for my own fears but I do think at some points the concept of Earthseed was overwhelming to the story itself, but maybe that is due to my not being so religious

I enjoyed Kindred but was a bit disappointed by this. Prescience aside, with its portrayal of a USA disintegrating under the pressures of climate change, this felt very YA dystopian quest narrative to me. Butler brings admirably multicultural characters into play, but I became a bit bored by the unfolding of the plot.
