I do so enjoy historical mysteries!!! This one had me wanting more. Mallory and company were very convincing!! America in late 1800's comes alive in this book!! I will read more of this series!!! Read More

Well written late entry into a series. Having not read the remainder of the series, this title was not at all confusing. The well developed characters and interesting plot will have me seeking out the series next time I'm in the mood for a cozy, historical mystery. would recommend for fans of Rhys Bowen, David Walker and the like.

A little long but still enjoyable.
I don't really like the Gino/Maeve plot, feels like they just try to make each other jealous rather than admit their feelings. And the way Gino is taking advantage of Verena and just dating her to get Maeve jealous is not nice, I think Verena actually cares for him. Loved seeing Sereafina again

"Detective/main character gets accused of the crime" is officially my LEAST FAVORITE mystery-series plot twist.

I read this out of order, which I shouldn't do so now I need to go back and read #10 thru #20. I like this series about a midwife and a NYPD police detective.

I figured out the mystery too soon, but it was overall okay. Not my favorite, as I'm never a fan of the hysterical, middle-aged female who is terrified of aging and ruins everyone around her.
