I liked the premise of this and loved that it was in okc but I just did not like ember one bit. She annoyed me with how much she lied about every little thing and then was surprised when it all came crashing down. And she should’ve been smarter about the whole Kyle thing and realizing he was screwing her over, cause it was obvious.

I really appreciated the focus on the subtle racism that indigenous people face, even in an area where their history is so deep and prevalent.

I loved the “Indian” thing ember did to stick it to her boss. And I totally relate to her getting a 50k salary and saying “I’m rich!” Because I felt the same way when I got my first big job.

Fun

This was an entertaining read. Ember was a lovable character. She kept digging herself into a deeper hole with her nonsense. She needed to grow up, but I was rooting for her. Her instant chemistry with Danuwoa was cute. They managed to make it a bit of a slow burn. Once they finally got together, it was spicy. He was such a dreamy book bae. This was a rom-com, but some heavy issues were addressed. It added the right amount of angst the story. I’m glad I had a chance to read this book.
