I don't even know how to articulate how much I loved this. I read it in a single sitting, and immediately wanted to reread it. This is the first time I've encountered a book of poetry where the last few pages completely transformed my view of everything that preceeded it - and I was already loving it before I reached the end.

Normally, I would turn my head at this style of poetry because my preference has been in much longer, substantial free verse.
But, Thomas King balances his wit and criticism in different styles and lengths of poems all working towards the final poem.
I really liked it and honestly want to get myself a copy (after borrowing one while reading).

This absolutely needs to be read all in one go. Each piece is separate yet collective. It's so strong and thoughtful peppered with humour and absolutely stark truth.

I really enjoyed this book. It was the first Indigenous narrative I've read in a while, and I felt gutted when I finished it. Personal favourites were "8" and "67". I'd highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a poetry book that deals with a whole host of themes in one early morning read.
