Fast-paced, psychological thriller based near the Adirondack Mountains. A great vacation read, as long as your vacation is not in a remote, snowy location near a prison.

Sandy, Ben and their teenage daughter, Ivy, live in Ben’s dream house in a remote area of upstate New York. Raising a teenager is emotionally draining for anyone, including the teenager, but Sandy’s secret past is about to make their lives a lot more complicated.

Clues are cleverly interspersed throughout the book, leading the reader to deduce some, but not all, of the outcomes. Short chapters make it easy to read the book in between other activities, but you may want to settle in and binge-read this one.

Thanks to NetGalley and Random House-Ballantine Books for this ARC.

The entire plot of this book was dependent on the two convicts escaping prison by car jacking a woman at a traffic light while they are setting up traffic cones while the prison guard supervising them has his back turned. How are the convicts able to car jack someone without weapons? Well apparently the woman they decided to carjack drives the only 2015 luxury SUV ever made that doesn't have automatically locking doors. And also she is too dumb to get out of her car and run to the guard when two unarmed dudes open her unlocked doors and tell her to drive.
