Amazing.  Absolutely such an amazing book, the plot, the characters, the relationship, and all the teammates made it wonderful to read.

I was fully invested in this story, it was so wholesome and heartwarming.  Spencer’s parents were adorable and doing their best.  The coach too was the absolute best.  The found family and wholesome family vibes this book had was like a warm hug.

Spencer going for what he wanted in life, finding the right people to be on his side and help him along the way.  He had trouble with his old school but his new school had his back, his teammates supporting him, it was all written so well.

A wonderful read! I wish I had this book when I was a kid. As an adult, there were a few parts I might have cringed or yucked at (I do NOT want to read about teens exploring sexually, no matter how brief) but I think for teen readers, these moments are important and perfectly done.

I didn't hate this book. I also didn't love it.

Technically, there was nothing wrong with it. A little cliche and as though it was filling up with as many tropes and plot devices as possible. Yet, it was so boring. The characters and writing lacked so much depth and detail.

I was expecting a YA novel and instead got a middle grade or lower reading level. As a result, the pace was slow, detail non existent, and characters were empty and unrelatable.

This might be a great option for a teen who has a lower reading level, like a high interest/low level book, but that might be it's niche.

This is the gay trans romance we all needed!! Finally a gay romance who's main conflict isn't homophobia. This book depicts the flaws within the LGBTQIA+ community and the struggles trans and non binary people face and how they overlap and differ. The complicated Family dynamic that often occur even if you do have accepting parents are depicted realistically and giving the appropriate amount of weight. I really enjoyed this book!! but also ew straight gays and soccer

I was expecting the writing style to be more generic teen/YA but it does a good job sticking to that genre while still flowing well and not feeling too forced. It's a very feel-good type of book that's easy to really connect with. I'm giving it a 4 because it does what it sets out to do really well.
Also to anyone looking at the content warning, the transphobia is very much not graphic just very relevant to the story so that's probably why people added it.
there's fear and brief mentions of transphobic violence but none that occur. No slurs. Mentions of deadnaming without revealing deadnames and some moderate misgendering. What I really liked was that there's deliberately no indication of the agab of the nonbinary character.

This was great! Beautifully touching. Full of emotional, funny and soft moments.
Just the dialogue was a bit chunky and fake at times. But other than that I had an absolute blast.
