I liked this book. Liked the characters. I wish we could have seen more of the others characters from the series.

I didn't read this series in order... So this one was the last one and it was a good one.

“If you give me the choice of anything outside these walls or being here with you, I choose you. Every time.”

Luke was like a mirror. When I looked into his blue eyes, I was reflected there. I saw the way he saw me.

But he didn’t press me to confide the worries and fears plaguing my mind. He was simply there, as constant as the river flowing through the land. Strong and bold and steady.

We live in a gray world and you’ve got to pick the shade closest to white.

Police chief protects a woman targeted by a dangerous MC. I've loved him in the last book (him >> the MMC) - he's sweet, swoon-worthy with a deliciously assertive edge (eg in bed). She's vulnerable, tough and made some bad choices, but there's good growth and redemption. Their romance is a beautiful slow burn with lots of tender moments as well as friendship, humour, passion and heat.

I loved how they slowly open their hearts to each other, and how he supports and protects her. There's no push-pull over their feelings and I liked that. The suspense is gritty but I was a bit 🧐 with some parts of it. Still my fav book of the series so far - Luke Rosen is fucking *amazing*. ♥

Have to be honest, by the end of the last book I liked Presley too much and I think that made me feel distant from Scarlett and her story and why she choose to betray her sister like that and while now I get why she did it I still don't like her as much but that's okay.

The plot was very good and entertaining but I feel like there was a pacing problem in the middle and the end was super fast.
One thing I didn't like at all but I get why Devney choose to do its the whole
let's get kidnapped with the next heroine but sadly this time felt very forced

I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down! Similar to Riven Knight,  this book featured forced proximity between the two main characters where they are living together. The twist for this book- protective custody. I loved Scarlet and Luke’s dynamic, he was so patient and gentle with her and she quickly became open to building trust in him. This book has a great balance of romance and suspense with drama involving the Warriors. I for sure would recommend this book and am ready to start the next book asap!

My favorite of the series so far. It was definitely a bit darker than the others in the series. Luke is *chef’s kiss*. He’s strong, caring, and protective, without being overbearing and rude. Scarlett is broken by her upbringing and the last year of her life, but she still opens herself up to Luke. It’s nice to read a romance that doesn’t involve a massive 3rd act breakup or fight. This book had suspense and mystery, which added to the story. I’ve been loving how the MC storyline has grown and evolved throughout the series. Excited to read about Leo and Cassie next.
