Overall I really enjoyed this book. I loved Cami and Landon together but my main issues were how sex scenes were used as fillers and how quickly situations were resolved. For example: They notice the tills being down by a lot and it was all resolved within a page. Which I think was too quick!

So, I find that often my least favorite books in series or by favorite authors are the "childhood friends turned lovers" verity. It's not because I don't like the trope - quite the opposite, it's one of my favorite premises. But, there is just something about it that makes authors... lazy, in my eyes.

Like, okay - I get it, they have this shared past. They've loved each other for ages but never acted on it. Cool. But I didn't get to see that, so it's not enough for you to just tell me this. You have to establish it. You have to make me feel it and believe it. Perhaps give me insight to these childhood times. You need to show me this love, and it's somehow doubly hard for authors to do when they have this crutch of "they are childhood friends. They've known each other for ages" to lean on. It's the same with me and soul mates - I love the idea, but it often just gives authors a way out of building and establishing the relationship.

Also, this novel was very, very predictable to me.
The second they slept with each other for no protection and Cami was all calm because of the pill, I thought there was going to be a pregnancy plot line. The moment it was revealed Addie was pregnant, I knew for sure there will be. And ultimately, this baby was just such a throwaway, meant to add some tension to the story. That was resolved in two seconds flat. On the one hand, I'm happy this didn't drag. On the other, did you have to kill a baby for it? Sure, it made me emotional, but eventually I just kind of wondered what was the point. This was clearly done just for the "emotional weight" and not for any other story reasons, because it gave nothing to this characters,/spoiler>.

Oh, and let me just tell you... I don't find a guy breaking into the girl's place when she hasn't invited him romantic. You can tell me they're childhood friends and are comfortable with each other, you can try to make it seem okay by saying the girl used to break into his place to, but what this is is plain creepy. Stop.

This was good... it has everything I normally like. And pretty much no angst which is always a plus but I just couldn't connect with the characters. There was nothing that clicked for me...

Nice follow up to the first in the series, I really loved the interactions between Landon and Cami. I wish there was a little more info about his accident and recovery, I felt like that would have made the story that much better.

Landon is the absolute epitome of a strong male lead. I adored him! Soft and strong in the same breath. This was a great friends-to-lovers romance with very low angst/drama. There were a few things that I thought would be bigger issues that weren’t and one thing that I didn’t see coming that kind of punched me in the face. But Landon and Cammie pulled through together!!

Close to You is the second book in the Fusion series by Kristen Proby. Don't worry about starting here if you haven't read the first in the series as each book is a complete standalone though the characters are interconnected. I hadn't read the first book in the series and I had no problem understanding anything here, though I do want to go back and read it after finishing Close to You! This book was really great, and I enjoyed it from start to finish.

Cami has loved Landon since she was a kid, while some called it a crush she knew that it was more. But when Landon left and joined the Navy, Cami tried to move forward with her life by marrying someone else. Years later, she is divorced but still friends with her ex, part owner of a successful restaurant, and happy with her life. But when Landon suddenly returns from the Navy, sparks begin to fly. Landon had feelings for Cami when they were kids, but being his little sister's friend she was always off limits. But now that they are adults and he is back he is more determined than ever to make her his.

I liked these two a lot. They had great chemistry and were really good for one another. Their connection and history was something I couldn't get enough of, I really loved that they had been so close. While I hated that they had grown apart a bit and gone their separate ways, I think that it was what they had each needed. Landon was fantastic, a great guy that was honest and straight forward. He was sweet and sexy, everything you could want in a book boyfriend. I liked Cami, but I will admit that if there was any weak spot here it was her. She got on my nerves a bit with the pushing Landon away (especially after she had wanted him for years and he had given her no reason to doubt him), but besides that she was great.

Overall, I really had a great time reading this book. I couldn't put it down and liked the characters a lot. The secondary characters here were just as great as Cami and Landon, and I loved their group and how close they all were. I look forward to reading more in this series, and I think if you are a fan of contemporary romance this is definitely one worth checking out. Kristen Proby is a great writer and am excited to read more from her in the future.
