I can’t believe I have waited so long to pick up The Rosie Project. This book was funny and also heartfelt. While Don is 39 years old, his innocence shines through. He’s straightforward with people and usually just calls it as he sees it. Don’s journey and self realization was enjoyable to read.
I actually listened to the audio book for this one. The narrator, Dan O’Grady, was outstanding. His tone and delivery was right on. I really felt like I was hearing Don Tillman tell his story.

Here's the thing: I am very tired.
Not sleepy, precisely. But fatigued. Overworked. Simply exhausted.
This is an important caveat because of what is to come in this review.
To put it simply, I do not have the energy to put up a front. No snarky persona will ensue. I will not be cracking jokes at the expense of this book or anything else.
And all that leaves is...gag...sincerity.
So I have to say my real and true thoughts about this book, and my real and true thoughts are that I read it nearly two months ago and took no notes and found it not particularly memorable, and so I only have one real monster of a cheesy thought to send your way:
This book is nice because it concludes there's someone for everyone. Even the world's most hard to like people can fall in love and go to New York and go on a quest and otherwise live out their best rom-com-y dreams.
And that's nice.
Bottom line: I need to go into a coma. Nothing extreme. Just like...two weeks of intense rest and no work.
-------------
i feel like the peak of human existence would be being a middle-aged woman in a suburban book club in the early 2010s.
this book gave me that experience.

do you ever find a book on your shelves and have absolutely no memory of reading it? to the point of questioning whether you even did?
yeah. that.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book despite its unbelievability.
I enjoyed the characters and story, however count me among those who found themselves re reading/re listening to the final 6 chapters or so to determine if I'd missed something with regard to the parentage of Rosie. I'll be reading the sequel.
This was a quick read that I ended up chosing for my book club. Everyone loved it and agreed it was funny and had interesting talking points without it being stuffy.

This was a book club pick for my work book club so it's contemporary and quite different to what I normally read, however, it's reminiscent of the book from a few months ago, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. This story tells the tale (in his own words) of Don Tillman, an adult professor of genetics who has quite a strange viewpoint on life and the social norms. In order to advance his life and hopefully find a partner, he decides that he needs to develop a project to fine a wife, he comes up with an extensive questionnaire and calls it 'The Wife Project'. This leads him to meet all kinds of women, one of whom is Rosie...
What I loved about this was the lighthearted but also deep introspection of the narrator and voice. Don is a guy who is trying very hard to fit in, although his brain is clearly working differently to most people. When he sees someone he instantly evaluates their approximate age and BMI, and then he tries to understand all their social cues. He's definitely different, but he's also kind and good natured, and really just wants to fulfil the life goals he knows are 'normal', he never expects to find true love.
Overall, the audiobook was excellent as the narrator does a wonderful job brining Don's personality quirks to life and livening up the reading experience. Don is a character with so many funny aspects, and he's often not even sure how funny he can be, which adds to his charm. He was a character with flaws too, but a fun one and a character lots would enjoy reading about I think, 4*s.

This book was really entertaining. Kind of like Bridget Jones awkwardness. I liked most of the book, except for the hurried ending.
