This book was clearly over my head because I couldn't even keep all the names straight let alone follow along for 500 pages. I know this book is well written, hence the 3 stars, it just wasn't for me.

Finally finished reading this book! I did quite enjoy it, I like a big sprawling epic over time, and I think I'll read it again sometime in the future when I've digested it a little more. The ending was pretty spectacular and tragic.

I do think it was more of a book to study and dissect rather than read recreationally though, it was quite hard work in places. That's the reason for my rating.
