This is a fast-paced, compelling, unique thriller that I could not put down.  I like the speculative elements and what they teach this main character about the mystery, but more importantly what they teach her about herself and her family.  There's a lot of insightful rumination on motherhood here; being in the moment, guilt, the impact of a mother on a child, work balance, etc.  I like the multi-layered mysteries and how discovering the solution to one crime just uncovers more lies and more crimes.

I thought this book was really inventive and unique. I’m impressed by all the things the author must’ve had to keep track of to avoid plot holes in this format.

It was maybe a bit long or dragging at times but I think everything was also necessary? And it still kept my interest. I actually stayed up late because I had to know how it ended.

What I didn’t really like:
1) I feel like this book was copaganda. The police are criticized for a large portion of the book but Surprise! in the end they were the good guys all along. 2) I didn’t love the way it focused a lot on “mom guilt”. (But that eventually resolved.)

I definitely didn’t expect the Ending (plot resolution) [well, part of it became clear over the course of the book, but part of it was a complete surprise to me at least] or the ending (epilogue).
(Which was kind of a cliffhanger)

I thought it was kind of neat that she forgets everything in the end.

Random silly observation: I love how the narrator did the American accent of the physicist lol.

If you don’t mind following a complicated Memento-like plot, this is a really great book.

Honestly, I ended up rating this higher than I'd planned for most of the book because
McAllister didn't mess around with the ending. I think that if I'd gone through all that (and frankly, that JEN had gone through all that), just for nothing to have changed, I would have been so angry. Not only because I hate books where things are just lost causes no matter what, but also because I feel like you can't change that much in the past without drastically impacting the future. So I'm glad McAllister ended it the way she did.

I struggled to get into this book - backwards timelines are just not really my thing. I struggle to keep up with what's happening and honestly even just to stay engaged. It's not a style that really works for me. Anyway, McAllister did it fairly well, and I appreciated that there were some moments that shocked me.

I loved this book.  It has an unusual premise with the MC going backwards in time rather than reliving the same day over.   I thought the book was well written, and while it was a bit repetitive in some spots, I expected that given the nature of the book.   I really enjoyed how it changed POV every few chapters, and looked forward to finding out how the paths would cross.

I gave this 4/5 stars and recommend it to anyone looking for a good read.

I’m always hesitant with time travel books. This was so well done though. I definitely recommend!
