Wow, another book that I read ages ago, remembered what it looked like, and what happened in it (vaguely) but totally forgot the title of! Thank you 10th Grade English teacher (who looked like a panda bear) for reading this book with us!

At the time, I remembered that I really loved it: it was magical, yet realistic, totally crazy and yet made sense. It's a great book to read for one of those crazy moods (like a Tim Burton, but happier style). I just recommend it in general!

Did I like it? Yes
Do I recommend it? Yes, but it's really weird

Still one of my all time favorite novels. Fell in love with it as a kid and I keep falling in love. The characters and world are phenomenal, and I love his writing style!!

A really delightfully strange read is the best I can describe this book.
Clive Barker created an alternate reality based on 24 hour time system that is so odd you're best reading this in a hardcover format with his illustrations or with safari near you to look up the visuals.
It reads a bit childish though, I didn't realize it was a YA read. Young girl heroine didn't give that away clear enough to me, as it would seem...but overall a very engaging read.
Unknown elements in the book are new and refreshing, there was no falling back into stereotypes known from other creations, which was great.

Be prepared to weirdness. You've been forewarned.

I've got to say I was curious when I heard that Clive Barker wrote a series of fantasy novels aimed at a younger audience. I was also hopeful since I'm a horror fan, and also an elementary school teacher. I'm happy to say that Clive Barker retained his very tight writing style that makes for a fast and exciting read. Frankly, I'm shocked he was able to weave together such an interesting and complex world at such a pace and that I was able to keep up, but as usual, he pulled it off.

I'm going to refrain from a spoiler-filled review because I'm in the midst of a book club with some friends who may see my review, so I'll just let my four stars speak for themselves.
