We need more trans voices, so I’m glad this book was made, but it was a weird one that I had trouble following. I think there two many things happening in the plot, and it was a lot to track. I do agree, however, that the works is tending to this bizarre future depicted in the book, and I was willing to go along with it all until the monsters came out. Then it lost my interest. Still, glad it was written because there were some important messages and themes in the book.

Brilliantly done story of a trans “final girl” against “the many-tentacled monster of gender and capitalism.” Absolutely devoured this book.

Wow. I love graphic novels and even though this is outside my typical genre I devoured it. I love queer stories and this one was so beautifully, horrifically told. The community love could be felt through the page. Our main character Sammie, however also had to deal with a lot of transphobic bull sh**. The development of the story was gruesome, weird, and felt like a whole trip but overall somehow I found myself emotional and touched by the ending.

There were a couple points were I didn't fully understand the intended delivery and think that lack of understanding minimized the impact in those couple areas for me, but honestly that is likely just a small incompatibility between myself and the writing style choices in those parts.

It's a whole experience and if you like weird twists, a transfeminine main character, and a little horror/gore you should experience it for yourself.

Really not my taste, unfortunately. Very dystopian, late stage capitalist, kinda disturbing. There's a trans story in there that I'm sure is heartfelt, but it didn't click for me.

Dark, lighthearted, inspiring, not like anything I’ve read before! There were some deeper messages in there that I think I’d catch on a reread.

I finished in one sitting since it’s a quick read and hard to put down. The juxtaposition of gender and identity with supernatural horror is a winner.

I absolutely loved this graphic novel. It is an excellent read about harmful gender roles, changing friendships, and how easy it is for people to be driven to extremes in trying to conform and please others. All done with some wacky drawings, a kickass main character, and so much world building in a short graphic novel. Will definitely read more from this author in the future!

An uncomfortably real read cranking modern times up to an 11 that had me rooting for Sammie through it all.

I'm not a big horror person, but I like Mattie Lubchansky's work and comics so I definitely wanted to read this. It was wild and actually reading it a couple days before the whole submersible thing happened felt very weird in hindsight. I sped through this and read it all in one sitting, and I'd recommend it to anyone interested in the premise and/or Lubchansky's work. I'll read anything trans people write even if it's fucked up lmao.
