This book I am so glad I bought it. I don’t usually read physical copies because of ADHD. I find it hard to focus on the page. However, Boys Weekend is one of those books that is so quick and I love the story of the sacrificial cult because I’ve been doing a lot of re-listening to Welcome to Night Vale and the book is very fun and fast paced. A bit on the heavy side when it comes to chosen family. Sammie’s attempt at being cool with being deadnamed/misgendered is so impressive because i would never be that nice to someone who was calling me “He”. Sammie was the only one paying attention to the situation happening in the other part of the hotel. And I hated Fred. Fuck that guy and his stupid ass goatee!

One moment that I found interesting was the moment when Dupe Sammie (who was a clone of Sammie pre-E) saves them and thanks Sammie for “showing what I could have been…if things were different” it is such a heartwarming scene because it takes a moment of clarity to realize how much you need to love yourself. Brilliant book, read it in 4 hours!!!

Brilliantly done story of a trans “final girl” against “the many-tentacled monster of gender and capitalism.” Absolutely devoured this book.

Boys Weekend is epic!!!! Horror is being trans, surrounded by cis people who don't understand or respect you, and Mattie Lubchansky recreates this experience better than I've ever seen it done before. This book creeps in the best ways, with both its horror and its emotional core. Read it now!
