This is the 4th book in Gill Sims’ Why Mummy series but for some reason I’ve only read the 2nd book (Why Mummy Swears) and this one, the 4th and final book of the series.
Having throughly enjoyed the previous books, I was delighted to pick up this latest addition by Gill Sims. I am a massive fan of the “Why Mummy’s” series and this lived up to full expectations!
The book picks up on Ellen, Mummy to Jane and Peter, who are now 16 & 18. Having read the whole series, I felt like this little family are old friends and I was over the moon to find out how life had been progressing for them all. (This book can still be read as stand alone so it doesn’t matter if you haven’t read the rest of the series!)
This is very well written, full of humour and had some very comical moments throughout. This is perfect for a light read, for anyone in need of a mood boost. Although this was a great series finale, parts of me is feeling hopeful that Gill Sims brings us back to Ellen in the future (perhaps as a Nan) as I am no where near prepared to let her go completely!
A fantastically funny book, that is highly recommended to all!

This is my second 'Why Mummy...' novel and it was just as good as the first. As a 24 year old with no children, I shouldn't be able to relate to this, and yet somehow I totally love these books, and speed through them quickly.
Ellen is a single mother of two teenagers, who is just trying to make her way though life, making sure that the moppets eat their greens and pass their exams. Throw in an attractive new neighbour who may or may not be interested in her, her best friend's toddler who insists on destroying everything, and her two dogs who require attention, Ellen is constantly busy.
As I said, I love these books, and I think they will appeal to anyone, regardless of whether they have children or not. This is the perfect book for a rainy Saturday afternoon - you can just curl up with it and wile away the hours... I guarantee you won't be able to put it down!

Easy to read but apart from a few minor anecdotal funny bits (it starts well with the depiction of teenagers and the night with Edward), it’s a bit bland and feels very repetitive on the other books. A lot of the book felt cliched, the perfect career part and romance elements in particular, and unrelatable, unrealistic and overly simplistic - not in keeping with the general theme of the series.

Witty and relatable. This book had me laughing, crying and screamed in frustration all at the same time. I'm glad I'm not the only one that has to deal with crazy in-laws family members; as well as, struggling to stay sane with kids and husband. It was an amazing read.
