An alt-fantasy comic following in the footsteps of Usagi Yojimbo and Groo, Zack Soto's The Secret Voice is a ton of fun. The action is well drawn, the story is immediately legible, and the characters have clear motivations. It's a good read and undeniably well-crafted.

Nevertheless, I can't help but want just a little bit more of something to sink my teeth into. I wish it were either a bit more outlandish (in the vein of Copra), a bit more psychedelic (in the vein of Starseeds), a bit more endearing (in the vein of Bone), or something else entirely its own. It's missing some kind of distinct edge to make it truly exceptional. As it is, this is a fun and exciting comic with some incredibly well choreographed action, and I look forward to more.
