azzarello still sucks at writing hellblazer but i cant say that this volume is as vol 14. he still doesnt understand johnny (i mean azzarello has him walk into a nazi bar and talk to them like their normal folks for chrissake) but also some of this volume is genuinely awesome. the awesome parts are generally ruined pages later, but still awesome nonetheless. constantine makes a fucking GOLEM to MURDER NAZIS. thats awesome. but then he says some pro-israel shit which is not only very unlike john but also sucks. then the narrative explicitly says that nazis are worthless which is of course the bare fucking minimum, but its still nice to see the political side of hellblazer pop up again after the monstrosity that was the volume before this. johnny also gets his first one-screen gay love affair complete with one-screen kissing and off-screen sex, but its done in thee most homophobic way possible and leaves you wondering if it can even be considered a love affair at all. but i cant deny its awesome to see johnny's bisexuality finally be acknowledged again for the first time since the off-hand reference to past boyfriends way back in the earlyish days of the comic. so. yeah. i really dont know how to feel.

Another volume of Hellblazer's worst writing. Good thing there isn't anymore Azzarello he was terrible at writing John. Plus that cover art is bad.

None of this really feels like a Hellblazer story. It’s a crime story with Constantine grafted on.

Blah. I wish they hadn't given this to Azzarello. I'm not enjoying all his hard boiled stuff in the Hellblazer context. And all the hookers and tits.
