Between Life and Death by Jaclyn Kot was a spellbinding and intriguing story. This book starts out with a bang and latches onto your feelings and doesn't let go! Welcome to a world that has magic, but also looks down on those who are able to use it. Those able to control magic are considered cursed and must be cleansed from the world. Sage (the FMC) is spunky, gutsy, and full of sass. She is determined to protect those that she considers family, no matter the cost. Von is cocky and overbearing. The instant connection and pull that these 2 have is heart-stopping. After finishing the book one of the only things I was left wanting, was more from Von's POV. The few peeks that we were given weren't enough for me. After that cliff hanger of an ending it is going to be difficult to wait for book 2!

I am not a big fan of this book.  It was a slog. I knew it would end on a cliffhanger, but even so, I do not think I will continue with the series. I didn't care enough about any of the characters to want to continue.
