It’s a good start.
I felt as though there wasn’t a lot of chemistry between the two MC’s. Or at least the MMC feelings felt more genuine.

Bland, boring book with inaccuracies that take you out of the story (eg sucking venom out of the blood through the bite marks)

Absolutely Obsessed. Loved the writing, the MCs, the world building. It’s perfectly descriptive without being drawn out. Some plot twists I did NOT see coming, which was a really nice surprise. Easily one of my favorite reads. This book had me SOBBING I’m talking bloodshot eyes, snot face, ugly crying

RTC!!

I feel like there was so much character building between our two main characters that needed to happen and I understand their backstory and everything and how they felt drawn to each other but there still needed to be more building now. Also I felt like the book had too many secrets and not enough answers.

The first 35 pages (~10%) did not grip me— no interesting characters introduced, no plot being set. I skimmed forward after this and looks like things start around 50 pages in. I skipped even further and there was writing like “ripe for the plucking...replace “pl” with “f” and you get the picture.”

The days are too short, and my TBR is too long, so I decided to DNF instead of pushing through when I wasn’t enjoying it.

I was fortunate to receive an ARC copy of this book from Jaclyn Kot and absolutely loved it.

Sage is a relatable female character whose curiosity helps the reader tap into this rich fantasy world. Her relationship to her family is a huge motivator and drives a good portion of this book.

Von is the mysterious male. He had me hooked from the first time he showed up on the page. Von gives off Ruhn Daanan vibes (Crescent City fans will get it!) while standing on his own two feet. If you wished CC had more Ruhn, this may just be the book for you!

And the ending? Man book 1 isn’t even officially released and I already want book 2!

Eta: I’ve now gone and read this through a second time and loved it as much as the first time. It’s an amazing read and I highly recommend it!
