This was a cute little story about a boy growing up and finding his place in the world, working with King Arthur’s horses. I was surprised how invested I got in it and could have read a lot more!

This was just fine, I will probably forget almost everything about in two or three months, but that doesn't make it a bad book, just not for me.

I really enjoyed this story. I think that it would have been an easier read if my phonics trained mind could wrap itself around character names like Iswy, Bwlch, Gwalchmei, and Cyfwlch. So I did what I usually do and inserted dofers instead.

A sideways view at Arthur (called Artos here), and a glimpse into the world of the early farrier as Galwyn travels, deals with his family, and helps maintain Artos' famous Libyan black horses by protecting their hooves with iron sandals. (No hoof, no horse!)

I liked the idea of this more than the execution. I just didn't connect emotionally with it, as I always do with McCaffrey's novels for adults.
