As a kid who read and watched Harry Potter (when they are released, except the first one), I fell in love with the magical story of the boy who lived. Snape had been, and until now, one of my favourite characters from Harry Potter. Watching Alan Rickman portray his complex character was an absolute pleasure and I could not have pictured another actor as Snape.

The way he speaks and moves is perfect for Snape, especially after I read the story's ending. It probably doesn't make any sense because I didn't know him personally, but when I found out he passed away I was literally sobbing. I guess I didn't realize how he was a huge part of my life growing up, even if it was only through the big screen.

This book, or his diary collection, is a way to get a glimpse into his daily life, waking up at odd hours for film shooting, meeting his fellow friend actors at award shows or at his home, and even his thoughts on what happened in that particular year. It felt good to read about his experiences during the Harry Potter era, and a bit of joy when you see familiar names of actors pop up in the page.

If you are a fan of his, whether it is through his past movies or Harry Potter, this book is worth reading!

As much as I love Alan Rickman. This was very easy to dip in and out of with it being diary entries but it just was not for me.

Geweldige acteur maar dit was eerder een uitgebreide agenda dan een dagboek. Ik kwam er helaas echt niet doorheen.

Cried my heart out. It’s been 8 years and I still can’t believe he’s gone.
