I really wanted to like this so much, I love anything Viking/Norse based but this was just not it. The story was ok but became very predictable and the characters were just not for me. Will not be reading the second book.

The plot had great promise but unfortunately the execution of said plot was mid at best. The research done into Iron Age vikings was minimal. There were a few inaccuracies that just felt lazy to me. The MC is repetitive and has very little character development as she just goes round in circles in her head the entire book. When will we get a Romantasy with a female MC that has a fully developed brain?

Really solid book! I really liked the world building, Iโve never read a Norse fantasy before so it was really refreshing. However the twist at the end was pretty much the same as every other Romantasy Iโve ever read soooo 4.25 stars for sure. (Not that Iโm complaining I will continue to read these same books over and over)

Maybe Iโm just getting too old and cynical, but I found Freya petulant and insufferable. Zero world building. Insta-love. Freya is supposed to be this amazing shield maiden but she canโt fight for shit and dedicates little time to actually getting better. Sheโs a grown ass woman but has the impulsivity of a teenager. Ending was predictable.
Best part was when she hit Bjorn in the face with a fish, and thatโs like the first chapter soโฆ
