The first book was a great set up and this one just completely destroyed it. The big twist being completely undone within 2 chapters because the character causing the conflict fell on his own sword and died? And then everything just immediately works out from there? Stupidest authorial choice I've ever read.

Was this book better than the first one? Yes…kind of…just slightly. I honestly have no idea why I even picked this up since I was not a fan of the first one. As with the first book this was also rather boring. Not much happened and everything resolved rather quickly. I think I’ll just stick with the selection series.

I felt like there was more adventure in this sequel and there was more twists and turns that I didn’t see coming which made the book enjoyable to read.

I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH. The kind of books that never get old means that it is a well written book. Kiera Cass is on the top of the list of my favorite authors. I seriously recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy/old history and romance.

This story lacked the slow burn that made The Selection, cheesy as it is, so compelling. Entertaining but just didn't measure up to Thr Selection.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was a lot better than The Betrothed and if you got through that one then this was a nice prize. The romance in this book was lovely and sweet but not in the main focus most of the time yet still present. My only issue with this book was that towards the end certain events, especially Jameson's death, seemed anticlimactic and quick and done for what seems out of convince. I have possible thoughts on why some events may have read like this but think the execution of those intensions may have fallen a bit short.
Overall I really enjoyed this read and it was pretty quick in pacing and once the action got started it kept piling on which made this a good and interesting read
