loved it. really spoke my language, and perfectly articulated things I feel/believe deeply but haven’t been able to put into words. feminist joseph campbell. so interesting, so beautiful, so spiritually profound. slightly repetitive so losing some points but still loved.
I cannot deal with this over the top language of women being women in a certain way that did not age well if you ask me. Every statement, I question what am I trying to read. Not my type of book

slow-paced
A bit too ~new age than I usually care for, but I really enjoyed it. Lots of interesting things - I really like the concept (of course I do) of how some of us are born into families that are deserts and how we can't flourish in that environment.
Not for me
I do not doubt it had a great impace when it came out but it feels a bit to gender essentialist for my liking and i am not loving the writing in general

Ever am I reminded of my love for brevity. Despite its length, this is a very good book. I read it as an analysis of the many fairy tales in it, many of which I had not heard, like "The Handless Maiden," "Bluebeard," and "La Loba." Although I'm dubious of the scientific robustness of Jung, I do believe his followers have hit on the "why" of these stories' deep and everlasting meaning. Hers is a sprawling, lyrical, and insightful first novel.
Amazing! A top favorite by the end of the first section.
Didn't quite finish this one either. Wasn't what I was looking (I was hoping for a dictionary of myths) for but some ideas like building an ofrenda to your younger self did resonate.
