Karin Slaughter has been recommended to me by many people, so I thought it was about time to give it a go. I'm glad I did because it was really good.

As with most books, if I can get it on Audiobook then I like to read it that way. It was a good choice because I would've given up on it, as it was a little slow to begin with. But I was still driving so I kept listening.

The murders were grissly and slightly disturbing, so If you don't like reading that kind of thing then this isn't the book for you.

I don't normally read crime novels that go into the details of a medical examiner's job, and I found it really fascinating. Also, I only guessed who the murderer was right before it was revealed, always a plus!

This was a little too disturbing for me and I didn’t love the ending

A little bit gory for me but I am on a detective novel kick.

This is one of those novels that makes you feel like you’re living it. It is incredibly dark and gritty but in a very grounded and real way, never sensationalizing the violence just to shock you. The small town setting and characters all felt so authentic. I loved how the mystery progressed, and the ending was strong. Major trigger warnings for rape and suicide. It was much more than just a thriller- it felt like a study of humanity, resiliency, trauma, and how we relate to one another.
