This is the best book I have read in years -- When you finish it, you open it right back to the beginning and marvel at how this author has written a spellbinding story about the art of fiction. If you haven't read it, get it now!

Watched the movie, so want to give the more time before I read the book.

I found myself getting pulled further and further into this book and the incredible story of Pi, his animals and his absolute will to survive against everything that stood in his path.
I enjoyed the writing style and the way there were some almost unrelated chapters... Because sooner all later, everything b free came apparant and something small and unusual from the beginning of the book suddenly made all the sense in the world when I came to the end of the book.
The ending was so interesting and unpredictable that I had to go back and reread the last few chapters and I'm still not entirely sure what happened... But I know what I want to believe.

For some reason this book took forever for me to read; it was an interesting story but it just didn’t work for me.

no (disrespectfully)

There for Pi and Richard Parker, though (I was so desperate for something to keep me going that I'm shipping a human and a tiger at sea on their own)

Personally, I would never read this again willingly

After finishing this book, I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand I had a hard time putting it down. I occasionally find myself drawn to stories of survival and, in a sense, exploration. On the other hand, I found myself skipping a lot of pages during the first 40% of the book. It's not that I didn't like the story in the beginning of the book, it's just that I found the author's musings and the delving of Hindu, Christian and Muslim religions tedious at best. I was not in the mood for it and found it irritating. Every instance of italicized text stirred a mental groan when I would happen upon it. I feel that I liked this book a lot and found myself absorbed, but I also disliked this book in many ways.

For the entirety of my reading, I had the feeling that this may be better as a movie. It's likely I will see the movie sooner rather than later, if so I will post back a yes or no regarding my theory.

Edit: The movie was better than the book in my opinion.
