I Just wish he got a new label at the end! I love the story regardless though.

This was read through my quest to read banned books. It's really a sweet story about acceptance.

I. Loved. This. Book.
I wanted to hug our crayon.
I think this book could start some really smart conversations and actually would be a really good companion to books like Fish in a Tree because it looks at how the expectations of others doesn't always fit in what a person can do and will do.
This is a special book.

I think if people look a little bit deeper into this story's message, they can think of labels that were placed on them that didn't quite fit.

Yes, this is a great analogy for gender identity and how society forces these labels on the trans community. However, anyone who is forced to pass as someone they aren't could feel seen by reading this.

Take this story in with an open mind, and you may be able to relate more than you think you do.

Very creative and thoughtful way to impart the sense of being ok with who you are on the inside. I appreciate when our moral are given to us as fables; allegorically. I appreciate how this book shows that we only relate to what we understand, and doesn't take a vengeful view on those that are initially naysayers. creative in the way to keep a 5 yr old enthralled. thoughtful and sincere.

Wonderful story about becoming true to yourself and honoring your individual capabilities. Sometimes our label doesn't match what's inside and it's important to recognize that and live with our inside.
