Came into this unprepared having never read any of the other Serge Storm books. This book was wild. Love the setting and the Florida history facts, some of which I hope to follow up on. Some of Serge's rants lost me a little but not enough to stop me from moving forward. By the end, I was satisfied with the story and will consider going back to read some of Serge's other adventures.

Overall a wild ride, as promised by the title and the setting, and a solid 3 stars.

It's the first book I read by this author and won't surely be the last.
I found it weird and highly entertaining at the same time.
The people, the places, the well thought characters make this book an enjoyable read that I highly recommend.
Many thanks to the publisher and Edelweiss for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

I won this book in Goodreads giveaway and this is my honest review.

To be honest, I almost gave up on the book early on, but I kept reading and in the end it was enjoyable. It's written very well, just something missing, that I can't put my finger on. The best parts were the back stories, and the end was quite good.

Had no idea this was part of a series. A blend of history, Florida facts, vigilante-ism, and friendships that strung me along. Memorable characters put this one at 4.5— the 2020 zeitgeist elements and respect paid to black history bumped it to 5.

Tim Dorsey has a very inventive imagination. Serge is an off the wall person who travels around Florida with his stoner buddy, Coleman, getting into all kinds of interesting adventures. Serge has his own brand of justice and when he finds a person doing something he disapproves of he then takes care of the person in some very creative ways. The person is usually a real dirt bag that deserves what he gets. Not sure how the author keeps coming up with all the different crazy ways he finds to dispense of the bad guys.
Serge and Coleman are touring around the state during and after a hurricane on the 'cemetery tour'. They are visiting a lot of historic and not so well known places where people have been buried. Serge always expounds on the history behind each site and person and I have learned a lot about Florida and it's history in the process. The story jumps back in time every few chapters to what happened during a previous hurricane and a nasty sugar baron. He then chronicles the life of a young girl who lives in a small town that discovers some of the sugar baron's lost gold. She wants to be on the football and the story tells of her determination and what she goes thru. There all is a side story of a crooked salvage operator who crosses paths with the main characters in his search for the elusive lost gold. All stories converge near the end with some interesting outcomes for all.
Very entertaining, love this series.
