That end thoe!! I really hope there's going to be some kind of twist in the next book because this ending left me feeling really sad.

This damn book was so fucking good. The ending was insane. I am in love with Nicolai, and the awesome elemental style magic of imperial Russia. I cannot wait to read the next installment of this series and see what’s going on.

The Crown's Game is the story of two Enchanters born in the same generation who are sworn to serve the Russian tsar. The only problem is that there can only be one advisor, so Vika and Nikolai must compete for the spot. The one to impress the tsar becomes the Imperial Enchanter. The one who loses dies.

This was a pretty good book up until the very ending. I think that the pacing was great throughout almost the entire book, then the ending applied the brakes for an immediate stop. I enjoyed the characters, and the magic, though I wish there would've been more really cool magic moments. Let's be honest, these two young people should be pulling out all of the stops to stay alive. I found some of the magic scenes to be lackluster. With that being said, I did enjoy this book and would be willing to continue to read this series.

"As for whether the magic in The Crown's Game is real, well...that depends. Do you believe in what you cannot see?"

The Crown's Game is an exciting fantasy set in Imperial Russia. It is about two teenagers who must compete for the right to become the Imperial Enchanter--or die in the process. Vika and Nikolai are the two present enchanters. She can summon the snow and turn ash into gold while he can see through walls and conjure bridges out of thin air.

The Tsar is constantly dealing with threats so he initiates the Crown's Game, which is an ancient duel of magical skill. The victor becomes the Imperial Enchanter and the Tsar's most respected adviser while the defeated enchanter is sentenced to death.

Have you ever had a library book that you've forgotten about? Yeah, that happened to me. The Crown's Game was almost an overdue book for me. So of course I sat down and just read it. As side from the fact that I had to turn it in... I was honestly really excited to read this book. To be honest I didn't even know this book existed until someone posted a review about it for one of the reading challenges I was participating in. So thank you who ever you are!

Now back to the characters. I love Vika and her relationship with her "father" and with Nikolai. Ugh I even loved their "relationship" and I was completely devastated with the ending. Broke my heart. I cannot believe Pasha, wrote down Vika's name on the scroll and ended up killing his best friend Nikolai. LIKE COME ON. Vika has already dealt with her father figure dying on her during the games and now this? AFTER HE SAVED HER!!! Then the dream bench where she imagines him and sees him almost brought me to tears. I don't even want to think about the second book yet... I really need to recover from this one.

Everyone go get this book and read it. Now!
