I think it took forever to get interesting and, once it did, it was short-lived. Just a 'string you along' read without a good pay out.

This was a weird one.

DID NOT FINISH: 30%

Soooo slow. The parts that were supposed to be exciting were really boring. Just not worth it to keep going.

This book had a much different feel than all of the other Delaware books I have read. It started out seeming as if it would become a grade B horror movie, with killer mutant bugs. Storyline was slowish and it didn't come together for me. I really struggled to get through it. Alex's final discovery was ridiculous and completely unbelievable. Really did not like this one at all.

I'm a series monster and almost never read the books in order. Even though this is book #10, it's the third I've read.

I love the way Kellerman weaves characters' individual stories throughout his books. While you're reading, some information/stories seem so insignificant, you wonder why he bothers. And then you get to the end and realize every bit of information is extremely important to the plot. There are few authors that can pull that off so meticulously.

While I did find this particular story to be a bit far-fetched, his character development more than made up for it. All the people I wanted to like, I shouldn't have and those I didn't trust were the ones I should have.

Even though the story itself fell a little flat, I still loved the characters and his writing style.

Probably 3.5- it took a bit to get interesting, but I really enjoyed it once things started happening and it was hard to put down. At the start I felt it was harkening to the island of Dr. Moreau- doctor, on an island, weird and possibly dangerous experiments were happening.
Spoiler In the end, I do feel I was right in that premonition.

Thought this one a bit outlandish, and thought there was really no way anyone could have figured out what was going on, as far as a certain plot line went.

Nothing like Kellerman's usual fare. This novel was trying to be more like "The Island of Dr. Moreau" than a good psychological thriller. Although he appears briefly via a phone call , the absence of Detective Milo Sturgis is keenly felt. This book was definitely an experiment for Kellerman-and an unsuccessful one at that.
