Like "1922," this was another road trip audiobook for me. A very creepy supernatural tale from Stephen King. I've heard a lot of people say and I'd have to agree that what's scarier than the monsters he writes are the people. This was a claustrophobic tale of people trapped in small quarters, and the different ways they dealt with the crisis was even more intriguing than the crisis itself. King writes *people* so well, and all the different reactions and distinct personalities and behaviors were very realistic and believable. I loved David, the narrator, and I especially loved his relationship with his son. David was a rarity among King characters---an artist rather than a writer---but this tale written in 1st person worked so well. I adored a lot of the ways David described fatherhood and fear.
I think it'd be 5 stars if not for one scene where David
hooks up with another woman in the store. He's been away from his wife for ~24 hours, and
to me it was just so utterly uncharacteristic of who he was, which bothered me. Other than that, it was a wonderfully told story.

Why does he write about women like that ??? Enjoyed for the most part but docked 0.25 stars for the sprinkle of cringe. Wasn’t satisfied by the ending either
