A beautiful novel - there's something so inexplicably human about Ali Smith's writing. I found Sophia and Iris to be incredibly compelling characters, and I appreciate the diversity in age with Ali Smith's seasonal quartet books so far. A lovely read.

It's still winter in the Northern parts of Finland so it's not too late to read Smith's book.

I do not know how I feel about Winter. On the one hand, I'm drawn to it. On the other hand, it's difficult and takes lots of work to understand subtle nuances. The societal criticism and questioning of social norms are the main components of the story. However, the endless allegories are somewhat tiring. This feels witty but in a bit snarky way. 

In the end, I'm intrigued and cannot wait to read Spring (I just need to wait winter to pass). Rarely book gives this much food for thought.
