Character development really suffered. I feel like I barely know the guys. And for their being three of them, it was kinda boring. I liked the first individual interaction with Hollis the best.
“I don’t know how I wound up with a crew of three hockey protectors but somehow I have one. Serendipity, I suppose.”
I fluffing love the My Hockey Romance series by Lauren Blakely! Well and Truly Pucked was a spicy, funny, and charming romp. Briar is a sweet and cheerful yoga instructor whose world was upturned when her cheating ex kicked her out. Hollis, Rhys, and Gavin came to Briar’s rescue and their caper-esque meet-cute made me smile so hard. When her bestie books her into a charming rental cottage, Briar’s luck may be turning around…until she discovers the place has been double-booked with three hot hockey players. Hollis, Rhys, and Gavin are amazing teammates on the ice and in the bedroom! When Briar confides in Hollis and asks him for “love lessons”, he enlists his line to help, and sparks fly. I loved these well-rounded characters, their unique backstories, and their harmonious personalities. The way the guys cared for and confided in the ebullient and grounding Briar warmed my heart. This spicy, close-proximity, why-choose romance was a swoon-worthy delight.
Well and Truly Pucked was perfectly cast with Samantha Brentmoor, Jason Clarke, Connor Crais, and Teddy Hamilton made such an amazing team to bring Lauren’s cute, witty, refreshing love story to life. This outrageously talented crew brought their unique vocal talents to the booth and flowed together seamlessly. The brooding Brit, the affable cinnamon roll, and the commanding alpharoll were a synchronized trio of seduction. Samantha portrayed Briar’s complex, jovial, and endearing character beautifully. The connections between Briar and each of her guys felt genuinely loving, kind, and oh-so-dreamy. If you like lighthearted why-choose love stories with a top-tier cast of narrators, Well and Truly Pucked is a must-listen!

Double Pucked was my first hockey romance. Since then...so many. I was concerned that by Well and Truly Pucked would fall flat. This friend group is all involved in throuples? But wait, we don't read these for believability. I don't anyway. I read them for... the hockey ;)
Going into this one I thought I had a solid idea of the formula that Lauren Blakey took for this series. I connected with Blair in a way that I didn't connect with the previous heroines in the series. Hollis, Rhys, and Gavin were all great, too! They really did nail the showing her how a boyfriend should treat their girl.
I would have loved to see more development of their relationships. Book 2 & 3 are both longer than book 4 and there is a whole extra love interest in Well and Truly Pucked.
