This felt more like a first draft than a finished novel. I liked the ideas but nothing felt coherent. At times unnecessary stuff was over-explained but important action wasn't described at all. The pacing felt off and I had a hard time figuring out how much time had actually passed between chapters. This book had a lot of ambition and I don't think it achieved what it wanted to achieve. Quick read I don't regret nonetheless.

A book that will linger with me because of the very distinct voice of Damani, the narrator. I probably could have read 200 more pages of her interior monologue simply because I really like this type of.. dry, but sharp, matter of fact writing, however at the same time I found the story a bit too meandering at times. But Priya Guns is definitly an author I will keep an eye out in the future!

for some reason i invented a plot for this book between entering the giveaway, reading the description, forgetting the description, and checking out the book from the library where i thought damani snapped and murdered someone i don't really know what i thought but i know there was murder in this invented plotline. so i was a bit disappointed that there wasn't but this was still good!!! also i don't really know why the jacket says it is funny because it wasn't really but that's the fault of marketing. the characters are very well done and the pacing is good and it was a good book

It was an alright book. After reading the title and summary, I sor  of had a different idea of what the book was going to be like versus what it actually was.

I might come back to this rating but I think I liked this book?? It was a fairly heavy handed satire (if it was even really one), but I’ve not had a book fill me with this kind of rage since Babel (Letty? Jolene? Was this somehow the same book?). I thought the writing style established Damani’s voice and attitude, but I also sometimes felt confused about what was happening/who was talking due to the choppy chapters and strange pace. Once I got to the halfway mark, I raced through the end of the book fueled by Damani’s rage and had a great time riding along with her.

one of the most unique I’ve read in a long time! Damani is a ride share driver down on her luck and sick of the “man” keeping her down! This is a wild dark comedy full of social commentary that’ll make you laugh but also think hard!! I can’t recommend enough but there’s some cws!
