This was a great little comic. It is all about Quin who gets powers of invulnerability from a meteorite. He lives in New Orleans and is dealing with going to high school and trying to stay away from bullies. After a chance meeting with a few other superheroes he decides that he wants to try and help out his community using his powers.

I really liked this comic for a few reasons. The first being the main character himself, Quin. He seemed really unsure of how to use his powers and what to do to help his community out. His powers are only invulnerability. No strength, no extra muscles, nothing like that to help him out. So he essentially things he's pretty useless. Then a few of the other superheroes tell him all he needs to do is want to help and the rest will come eventually. I liked that the author showed him being really confused and unsure as how to help out. One of the other things I liked was how nicely that the story progressed. It wasn't rushed and as an origin story it is a really nice one. I would highly recommend this comic if you are a big superhero fan.

This has a good message, but was just a bit too tropey for me.

Book: Quincredible, Vol 1, Quest to Be the Best
Author: Rodney Barnes
Pub Date: 23 Feb 2021

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Review: This is the first book I’ve read in the Catalyst Prime Universe, and I think it was a great introduction. I don’t think many things were fleshed out and seemed unrealistic (I know it’s a comic book, but the ones I’ve read have realistic characters.) However I did like how the graphic design was. Very detailed and seemed three-dimensional. I also liked how Quin was just a regular school kid and was struggling balancing his homework and being an “Enhanced.” I also loved the diversity. Not many comic books have a lot and I was impressed with everything. If you love comics, I definitely recommend this book.

Thank you to the publisher for giving me a free copy in exchange for an honest review!

I absolutely adored this comic! I thought it was amazing and that it showed so much character development. In this story we follow Quinton on his journey and I loved seeing all the events that evolved around him.

The art style of this comic is really good and intriguing. The main characters all have good dialogue which thank god, we all know how shitty it is when you read a comic with bad dialogue. The whole flow of the story was good. And there were no plot holes that I was concerned enough about to be annoyed about so to say!

I loved this comic so much and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a genuine and fun read. I will definitely re-read this in the future and I'm hoping for a volume 2 soon :D

I liked the overall themes of this latest Catalyst Prime trade, but the art left me wanting more, as did some of the flat/predictable character/plot elements. (e-galley from NetGalley)
