This book was so beautiful, and I really enjoyed it. I cried at the end! The timelines skipping around were a little hard for me to keep track of. Who knew what, when characters were going to find out what happened, etc.
It took me a very long time to read because of the heaviness of the subject matter. I likely would give it a better rating if I had read it all at once but it was just too much for me. The last portion got very upsetting to read all at once to the point where I had to skim so I wouldn't be triggered too badly. (Depicted violence) That being said, I am very sensitive to certain kinds of violence or triggers so others might not be nearly as put off. It is a WWII novel, after all.
I'm glad I read this, but I definitely need to read something that matters less next.
Based on true events of which I never knew happened. Highly recommend reading/listening to the authors note.
