descriptionWOWZA...this is the second book in a week that has emotionally wrung me out. I'll admit I wasn't expecting to be as blown away by this book as I ended up being. It was heartbreaking. It was brutal. It was uplifting.

description

I also found it to be fantastically well written and paced. The plot was interesting and kept me turning the pages. There were twists and turns. We jump back and forth from the past to present. Some of those flashbacks were extremely difficult to read and rather graphic. The others offer us a glimpse into Nico's childhood/teen relationship with Aislin. There wasn't a lot of secondary characters in this one, but the few that are peppered throughout added a nice extra dynamic to the book. I also enjoyed both main characters. Nico especially. My heart just broke for this guy. His regret and sadness and anger saturated the pages making the ending that much sweeter.

Now what stopped this from being a complete 5-Star read for me was the fact that it was LONG. And although I was never bored or felt like skimming I DID feel that sometimes it got a bit repetitive. Especially Nico's inner thoughts. That was just a tiny issue and didn't lessen my enjoyment much at all. So this one gets two HUGE thumbs up from yours truly.description

This book was wow!! I was not expecting this book to be so emotional and at times very hard to read due to the dark parts.  I loved the twists and turns that these 2 authors did.  It was wow!  I do not want to say much because I don't want to give away anything good.

Niko was very determined to find his childhood best friend that has been missing for 15 years.  He would do anything to find her.  Then, a shooting happens in his yard and a female is found close to his home.  Is this all related together?

Each character was written so very well.  The dark areas were hard to read, but I knew that they could give clues to what, who, when, etc.

I can't think of the last time a book held me so completely riveted. Parts of this story were very graphic that they were truly hard to read and both terrifying and heart wrenching, particularly when the abuse is detailed, but at the same time, I couldn't stop reading. I had to know who Doe was and if Niko found the resolution he sought. The book is wonderfully written and so well done that it was easy to see myself, right there, watching it all play out. With its whiplash inducing twists and horrifying acts of a madman that is so much scarier than any of the things that go bump in the night. This is one tale that will stick with me and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys the genre. Wilson and Grayson make a great team and are certainly authors to watch.

So... I read this book because I was curious as hell. LOL. A friend read it, another friend did and I asked for spoilers. And seriously, how could he not know?

SpoilerHow could he not know that the girl in the woods and the girl with him is identical? They are both of the same age. The girl he’s with has green eyes. The picture he was given for Rebecca has too. He didn’t see ALL those similarities? I think that’s BS. And don’t get me started on the recovery time. Like dude, 15 fucking years of rape and torture and she got over it after more or less 2 years?? SERIOUSLY?? She’s seeing a psychiatrist as they said but it only took her some months to recover. Which is I think unbelievable, if you ask me. No amount of appointments with a psychiatrist can heal a person’s mind just like that.

There are a lot of loopholes in the plot. The pacing was so slow too for my liking. I liked the Prologue, I think it’s the only part where I almost got teary eyed. Lmao. The torture and rape are descriptive it made me cringed a bit. But that’s it.

Oh yeah, one would think that after 15years of torture and rape, one would lose all hope. I mean, I’m not sure if she’s brave or stupid to hold on for that long. She still wants to live, I guess. But I think if it’s me, I’d find a way to kill myself. But that’s me. It’s different from other people.

I liked it enough to give it a 2 stars. It’s all the stars I could give. Good luck if you want to read this book. It is descriptive.

Just wow. Riveting. From the first page to last I was sucked in and captivated by the mystery and the suspense.

Please take into very careful consideration the trigger warnings-- the details are graphic and made even me squeamish.

I was rooting for something to be (don't want to spoil it) from the very first moment, but the authors did such a good job with the plot twist it came after I had given up hope.

5 amazing stars!!!

The thought of slogging through 400 more pages of this is just too unappealing to me. I don't even know who the romance in here is going to involve but I already know it will be icky no matter what. And don't even get me started on the sexualization of them as kids in the flashback chapters.
