It was goofy, but I enjoyed hearing her make fun of herself and make fun of the classic tropes. It was cringy but it was intentional, and it gave me a few laughs

I actually laughed out loud a few times while reading this. Definitely reminded me of the scary movie franchise. I was looking for a book that required little brain power after a long week of traveling and this hit the spot lmao. A fun quick read that did exactly what it was aiming for.

3.75 — this was fun, and I appreciate how this *satire* novella pokes fun at common tropes of the genre. I wish more authors would do this (esp the romantasy genre which is built on stacking tropes on tropes on tropes). Idk why this is rated so low. It’s satire and supposed to be ridiculous & goofy! I think Freida landed it.
