3.8 AVERAGE

A picture is worth a thousand words and the pictures in this book are simple, beautiful and plentiful. They send the author's message without words. This is such a beautiful story. I would recommend it to anyone.

Beautiful wordless graphic novel - I'll definitely look for more of Drooker's work.

A novel told entirely in pictures.

Without a single written word, one can't just flip through the pictures quickly. Each page is haunting, pulling you in. Minimalist but stark. An overwhelming celebration of the human survival and rebirth against all odds.

I read this mostly for my university essay research. It was an easy read - the absence of typographical indicators made it much easier to focus on what the imagery was trying to convey. The use of colour and composition is really strong even though it's almost entirely made up of very cold and muted blue-grey tones (with added white and black for contrast).

Such stunning artwork!

Silence is golden.

This is a gorgeously illustrated wordless graphic novel. A girl and her dog flee her village in the jungle and end up in a metropolis. Will she find safety and love here, or only more terror?

The artwork is absolutely beautiful, and the story is tragic but tinged with hope. Lovely.
